Camp Staff – Activity Coordinator

Activity Coordinators are the folks that make camp run smoothly! They set up for tie dying, inflating balloons, preparing the dining hall for the candlelight ceremony, etc. Activity Coordinators are also involved with the children during the large group activities as time permits. Physical activity and adaptability are a must with this role. All camp materials and supplies for activities are provided. Camp staff arrives at camp on Friday evening and stay until it concludes. Camp Helper

Want to be an Activity Coordinator, but can’t commit to the whole weekend? We also have positions open for Camp Helpers! You will work closely with Activity Coordinators, but instead of staying the whole weekend, you can come in for 3 or more hours at a time and help us “behind the scenes.” We have several shifts available each day, and you can sign up for as many or as few as you like. Camp Cook

The camp cook feeds the hungry campers…and staff! You’ll prepare the meals and clean up the kitchen. You’ll need the ability to prepare basic camp meals and wash dishes. All food and cooking supplies are provided! Bring your chef’s hat! The staff begins preparations on Friday afternoon and camp is over on Sunday afternoon. You DO get to be involved with some of the large group activities and interact with the campers! Job Description

Camp Clean Up

Would you like to help out with camp but can’t commit to an entire weekend? The camp clean-up crew is the job for you! You’ll prepare all of the camp supplies (games, kitchen goods, PA system, etc.) to return to our office in West Des Moines, and assist with basic camp cleaning as required by the camp facility (usually trash pick-up, sweeping floors and returning tables and chairs to their rightful positions). Physical activity is required but we’ll provide all of the resources! Simply bring yourself! We invite our clean-up crew to join us for closing ceremonies and a chance to meet our campers so they see the lives they are impacting by volunteering! Clean-up crew is three to five hours on Sunday during our camp weekends. Job Description

Cheer Box – Wrap and Deliver Gifts

A lot of love and hard work goes into our holiday cheer boxes, and that’s why we need your help! Volunteers can help wrap gifts, assist with the inventory process and deliver boxes to families. No skills necessary and we’ll provide all the materials and instructions. This project begins in mid November and ends in early December. Sign up yourself, or a group of friends or co-workers today! Friends and Family Night Volunteer

Friends and Family Nights are offered monthly from 7-8:30 p.m., providing an opportunity for individuals, children, and families to come together for an evening focused on rebuilding after the death of a loved one. Volunteers are needed to help with planning, preparation, and/or execution of the event. You will work with the Program Coordinator to carry out the event/activities for participants.  Every month is a little bit different, ranging from crafts, outdoor games, various memorialization activities, special visitors, and more. Fun Day Volunteer

Fun Days are devoted to engaging participants in activities that promote “fun” in memory of their loved ones. Volunteers will provide supervisory help on Fun Day outings/events. These special group events are offered quarterly throughout the year and provide an opportunity for individuals, children, and families to reconnect with one another, as well as with Amanda the Panda staff and volunteers. Do you enjoy taking photos or are you a professional photographer who would like to donate your time or talent to help capture the memories and experiences of Amanda the Panda’s programming? If so, let us know! We have programming all year round that we can use volunteers to help capture the important moments and help create lasting memories for families, and to help promote or services. Support Group Meals

By providing supper on Support Group nights, it gives parents/caregivers a sense of respite and helps eliminate at least one task to accomplish before arriving. Volunteers will help prepare and serve dinner at 5:45 p.m. Support groups are 6 session long on Monday evenings, you can volunteer one night or all six. If you can’t stick around to serve, but want to donate a meal that is an option as well. Job Description

Support Group Childcare

Childcare is available for families attending support group. Being able to provide this service is valuable to many parents who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate in our peer support groups. Childcare volunteers play with and care for children ages infant to pre-school. Support groups are 6 session long on Monday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Volunteers can choose to help one night or all six. Job Description 

Yard Work/Landscaping

Amanda the Panda has a beautiful property that needs someone to help care for it. Having volunteers to help mow the grass, rake leaves, pick up sticks, and help with both spring and fall clean up is a huge relief to staff.
